Neil Campbell’s dedication to excellence and clarity in biology teaching is manifested in one of the most successful general biology textbooks of all time. Although I think this book is currently up to the seventh edition, this second edition provides people a very inexpensive, yet excellent, general biology reference text.
It was my good luck to have worked with Neil on the plant-related chapters of this edition. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Campbell’s death in 2004 at the age of 58. He is greatly missed. […].
